Ramsay man arrested after ATV chase, foot pursuit

WAKEFIELD – A Ramsay man was arrested after leading police on a chase on an all-terrain vehicle early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Michigan State Police troopers from the Wakefield post observed a four-wheeler in the middle of the road on U.S. 2 near the Ramsay Crossing.

The subject, a 23-year-old man from Ramsay, quickly pulled a U-turn on the highway and fled from troopers westbound on Trail 2, crashing into the Bessemer Small Engine building.

The suspect then fled on foot, northbound back across U.S. 2 and was pursued by troopers and sheriff’s deputies. The suspect led authorities through neighborhood yards and eventually sustained head injuries when he ran into a metal clothesline pole.

He was apprehended by deputies and troopers and treated for his injuries at Aspirus Grand View Hospital before being booked at the Gogebic County Jail.

The suspect was charged with fleeing and eluding, operating while intoxicated, and driving while license suspended.
