Train bridge memorial vandalized

IRON MOUNTAIN – The memorial dedicated to the victims of the July 31, 2008 shooting at the East Kingsford train bridge has been vandalized.

Michigan State Police Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post say it is believed the vandalism occurred within the past week.

No further details were given.

The State Police request that anyone with information regarding the vandalism contact the Iron Mountain Post at 774-2122.

Scott John Johnson of Kingsford shot and killed Bryan Mort, 19, and Anthony Spigarelli, 18, both of Iron Mountain, and Tiffany Pohlson, 17, of Vulcan.

Johnson pleaded no contest to 10 felonies, including three counts of first-degree intentional homicide. The 40-year-old was sentenced to three consecutive life terms plus 295 years and will never be eligible for parole.
