Richard W. Rydzewski

CRYSTAL FALLS – Richard W. Rydzewski, 62, of Crystal Falls, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

He was born Jan. 21, 1951, in Rhinelander, Wis., son of the late Edwin and Ruby (Martalock) Rydzewski.

Richard graduated from Three Lakes High School and was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he went on to attend college.

He enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge, Richard went back to attend school at UW-Steven’s Point.

Richard moved to Milwaukee, and worked for A.O. Smith Car Frame Manufacturing Company for a few years. He then became a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Milwaukee, where he worked for more than 30 years. In 2008, Richard moved to Crystal Falls.

He enjoyed trout fishing, prospecting and studying minerals.

Richard is survived by two brothers, Robert Rydzewski of Trout Creek, Roger Rydzewski of Cecil, Wis.; one sister, Kathy Pittman of Kenton; and many nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Eastern time at the Trombley-Pulkas Post 494 American Legion Hall in Trout Creek.

The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the hall. Rev. Raymond Valerio will officiate.

Burial will be in Agate Cemetery.

The Ontonagon County Veteran’s Association will accord military honors at graveside.
