Local boards meet

The Breitung Township Board will meet today at 7 p.m. in the board room of the township offices in Quinnesec.

Under old business, the board will open bid proposals for a new fire truck and consider proposed revisions to the garbage ordinance.

New business on the agenda include a request to purchase township property, request to bid surplus equipment, 2013 tax rate request, draft a policy, and request to attend a seminar.

The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District Board of Education will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the conference room A of the business offices at 1074 Pyle Drive in Kingsford.

Old business includes filling the position of center director and filling the part-time associate classroom coordinator and full-time associate classroom coordinator positions.

New business includes action on a new ACH vendor and permission to travel out-of-state and for expenses to be paid.

The Breitung Township Schools Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. today in the board room of the administration building, 2000 Pyle Drive in Kingsford.

Discussion items include the seventh grade Isle Royale trip, student count and drop and add activity, multi-tiered system of support agreement, Peninsula Fiber Network easement request and map, and a bond budget update.

The board will take action on the Woodland student-parent handbook and schedule B appointments at both Kingsford Middle School and Kingsford High School.

The Norway City Council will meet today at 7 p.m. in the council room of the city hall building.

Agenda items include local street project change orders, establishing a moratorium regarding the establishment of businesses engaged in the dispensation or distribution of marihuana, liquor license for the Sons of the American Legion, vacating a city owners right of way.

The board will also accept resignations from Sue Giesen from the Jake Menghini Museum Board, Marsha Guldswog, Norway Area Planning Commission, Bob Wurzer of the Parks and Recreation Board and the appointment of Derald Harder to the Parks and Recreation Committee.

The Florence County School District Board of Education will meet Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Room 215 of the high school.

New business includes the high school lunch menu, election day cooperative agreement, annual meeting update, tuition waiver due to move and open enrollment exceptions.

A closed session will also be held to consider a specific student matter, personnel issues, staffing/contracts/compensation and negotiations.

The Dickinson County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6:30 tonight in the circuit courtroom of the courthouse.

The agenda includes a resolution relative to a 911 telephone surcharge settlement with the Michigan Public Service Commission; a library board request to levy the voter-approved 0.9 mills in 2014; and a hospital board appointment.

The Dickinson County Road Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the commission offices, 1107 South Milwaukee Ave., Iron Mountain. The agenda includes a Felch Grade discussion; Breitung Township projects; and the status of the old alignment of Peronto Road.
