Flivver freshmen get through Marquette

KINGSFORD – Trevor Roberts rushed for three scores and Andrew Barker added two as Kingsford outscored Marquette 49-38 in the freshmen football opener at Flivver Field.

Roberts traveled 35, 18 and 23 yards in the first half for scores. Barker’s TD runs covered 43 and 70 yards.

Kingsford rushed for 317 yards – Roberts, 12-131, and Barker, 6-125.

Coach Kevin Murdock’s Flivvers built a 35-14 halftime lead. The defense also accounted two scores with Chris Nekhay (44 yard) and Barker (70) returning pass interceptions.

Mack Hull, eight; Barker, seven; Guy Barrows, six, and Roberts, six, led the Flivvers in tackles.

Kingsford hosts Menominee on Thursday.
