James A. Hulce

CRYSTAL FALL – James A. Hulce, 65, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Northstar Health System in Iron River.

He was born on Sept. 5, 1947, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Mamie (Koivu) Hulce.

He attended the Crystal Falls Schools, and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968.

After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, he worked as a laborer with the Construction and General Laborers Union-Local 1329 in both Michigan and Illinois.

Jim most recently retired from the maintenance department at the Lac Vieux Desert Casino in Watersmeet.

He was a member of the Tufts-Rondon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2891, and an active member of the American Legion Post 87.

He loved hunting and fishing, and especially spending time on his motorcycle.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hulce.

Jim is survived by his siblings, Patricia Robichaud (companion Francis Rose) of Crystal Falls, Theodore Warren (Betty) Hulce of Crystal Falls, Shirley Davison of Crystal Falls, Sharon (Robert) Klima of Alpha, and Jack Kukura of Kingsford; further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.

The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate.

Burial will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 9 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls. The Eastside Veterans Council will accord full military honors.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his memory.
