LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Richard (Mickey) Canavera, 83, of Lawrenceville, passed away July 30, 2013, at his home.
Mickey was born in Norway, son of Louis and Libby (Bellard) Canavera. He graduated from Norway High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army for four years.
Mickey returned home, married his loving wife Carole Kangas, and the couple moved to New Jersey and raised their precious family.
He worked as a dispatcher for Cooper Jarrett Trucking Co. in Bound Brook, N.J., until his retirement.
Mickey enjoyed fishing, gardening and being with his family.
Though he lived in New Jersey, his heart always remained faithful to his roots. He was an avid Michigan sports fan, especially the Detroit Lions.
Mickey is survived by three sons, Richard Canavera, Michael (Laura) Canavera, and Paul (Donna) Canavera; two daughters, Lynne (William) Vasquez and Lori (Mel) Losowski; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, all of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carole; one son, John; his daughter-in-law, Patricia Canavera; two brothers, John and Jeno (Signi) Canavera; and two sisters, Marie (John) Clemo and Rose (Alvin) O’Blenes.
He is further survived by two sisters-in-law, June Andreoli and Danna Canavera, both of Kingsford.
Uncle Mickey loved his friends, classmates and relatives in the Norway area.
After he raised his precious family, he and Carole tried to visit and attend the Dickinson County Fair as many years as possible.
We treasure these precious times – his loving nieces and nephews, the late Richard and Darrell Tramontine, (surviving is LaVerne Tramontine, Richard’s wife); Barbara (Paul) Heupel; Janice (Larry) Rusch; Larry (Mary Beth) Canavera; the late Billy Canavera; Nancy Webb; Jim (Lela) Canavera; Bob (Linda) Clemo; and Lee Clemo.
Services were held in New Jersey.
