Fleming, Guazzone win U.P. Tennis Open

KINGSFORD – Sam Fleming felt right at home in the U.P. Tennis Open at Kingsford High School.

Fleming, in a battle of former Flivver tennis standouts, defeated Ariel Bloniarz 7-5, 6-4 for the women’s “A” championship.

In the men’s A final, Francisco Guazzone of Argentina downed Aaron Parmet of Gladstone 6-4, 6-3.

Tournament director Alec Tuchowski expressed appreciation to Bink’s Coca Cola for donating water and to the singles and doubles participants.

“It was a good day for tennis with great matches,” Tuchowski said.
