Susan (Maginn) Dubord
GRAFTON, Wis. – Susan M. (Maginn) DuBord died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, in Grafton.
Born Nov. 7, 1946, in Goodman, Wis., she graduated from Niagara High School and later received her R.N. degree from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. A talented and hardworking nurse, she worked at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, Wis.
She was the daughter of the late Dr. Richard and Vivianne Maginn of Niagara. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Michael (“Mike”) Maginn, and Richard D. (“Dick”) Maginn.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. David DuBord, of Grafton; daughter, Renee (Tyrome) Brown, along with grandchildren Ernest and Vivianne, of Mountain View, Calif.; son, Paul (Kim) DuBord, along with grandchildren Alexandria and Jack, of Glencoe, Ill.; son, John (Kelly) DuBord, along with grandchildren Sean, Devin, Isla, and Connor, of Grafton; brother, Dr. Patrick (Cheryl) Maginn, of Kelso, Wash.; sister, Peg M. Maginn, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and sister, Mary (Mike) Lewis of Iron Mountain.
Susan was a consummate caregiver who was passionately devoted to her family. She elevated the usual joys of Motherhood – keeping the home, cooking, and nurturing children – to a truly exceptional level.
She turned ordinary houses into uniquely artistic settings with her skills in design and her eye for color.
She relished the challenge of preparing nutritious, gourmet meals, often replicating high-end restaurant items by taste alone.
She dedicated her seemingly boundless energy to providing and engaging in challenging and imaginative activities with her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed nothing more than seeing them learn and grow.
She was thrilled to watch her family develop and interact, knowing that she had achieved every Mother’s dream legacy – that of a cohesive family unit filled with loving, kind, productive individuals.
We will grieve and miss her terribly, but also embrace our responsibility to sustain her legacy, which was her greatest gift to us.
There will be no burial.
A private memorial service is scheduled in Grafton.
