RACINE, Wis. – Richard E. Skoglund, 90, passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center in Racine.
Richard was born in Norway on the Fourth of July in 1923, son of the late Ivar and Ellen (nee: Branback) Skoglund.
During World War II, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for his efforts while stationed in the European Theater.
On Oct. 1, 1980, he was united in marriage to Alice Wojtecki. Richard was last employed with Jacobsen Manufacturing before his retirement.
He loved the outdoors and his summers in Minocqua, Wis.
Survivors include his loving wife, Alice; brothers, James and Ralph; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his prior wife, Helene (nee: Hills); and his brothers, Donald, John, Robert and Ted.
Private family services were held with entombment at West Lawn Memorial Park.
