New Survivor Support Group for Victims of Sexual Assault- The Caring House is forming a new support group for survivors of Sexual Assault. The group provides a safe and supportive environment to explore options for healing with others who have had similar traumas. Please call the Caring House at (906) 774-5524 or (800) 392-7839. The Sexual Assault Response program at Caring House offers individual and group counseling, advocacy, educational information and referrals to other agencies for child and adult survivors of sexual assault which includes rape, childhood sexual abuse, adult survivors of incest and sexual harassment. These services are also provided to families, friends and loved ones of survivors. Services are always free.


Grief and Loss Support Group – Meets the second and fourth Tuesdays at 3 p.m. in the Dickinson County Hospital Chapel (September-May) and the fourth Tuesday (June through August). For more information, call Chaplain David Anderson, 776-5538 or 774-1313.

Recovery Inc. – Tuesdays, self-help, mental health support group for those suffering from fear, depression, anxiety, nervous symptoms, 7 p.m., Veterans Administration Medical Center, Holman Room. For information, call 779-0025.

Support group – Tuesdays, for women experiencing physical and emotional abuse now or in the past, 5:30 p.m. at the Caring House, Iron Mountain. All services are free and confidential. Children services will be provided. For further information call 774-1112 or 1-800-392-7839.

Bipolar Support Group – Tuesdays, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Eastern Time, at The Link, located in Delta Plaza Mall, Escanaba. For more information, call (906) 786-7937.

Ostomy Support Group – Third Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel at Dickinson County Hospital, main level. Facilitated by a registered nurse, this group provides support and education to individuals dealing with ostomy concerns. Contact is Diane Davis, RN, 776-5540 or 774-1313.

Ostomy Clinic – Open on the third Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the ambulatory care unit of Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. Nursing assistance available on a walk-in basis for ostomy patients who have issues or concerns.


Support Group – Thursdays, for victims and survivors of domestic violence, 9:30 a.m. Call the Caring House at 774-1112 for more information. Child care will be available.

Support Group for HIV – (Infected and affected), first Thursday of the month. For more information, call the HIV/AIDS Hotline at 779-2904.

SMART Recovery – Meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 525 West Adams St., Iron River, (use side door for privacy). For those experiencing problems as a result of substance abuse, gambling, etc.; those feeling lonely, depress, isolated; those affected by someone else’s substance abuse. Contact (906) 875-4148.

Family Ties Caregiver’s Support Group – Meets every third Thursday of the month, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Family Ties Adult Center located at 800 Crystal Lake Blvd., Suite #112, Crystal Lake Community Center. They offer free respite and a free meal. Reservations can be made by calling Tammy Tomassucci or Angela Elliott-Johnson at 774-8032.

Local Area Bi-Polar Support Group – First Thursday at noon and third Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library conference room. Any questions call 396-9401.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, NAMI of Wishigan – Every fourth Thursday, Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain, at 1 p.m. It offers a NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group for those diagnosed with a mental illness. NAMI Connection groups offer a casual and relaxed approach to sharing the challenges and success of coping with mental illness.


Diabetes Support Group – Provides education and support for people with diabetes, their loved ones, family members and caregivers. Meets the second Monday of each month, (March through May and September through November), at 3 p.m. in the lower level conference room of Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. Autism There is Hope Support Group – Meets the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at their new location in room 245 at Bay West Campus. This is a small group that can offer hope and support for other parents, grandparents, etc. dealing with Autism. Grief Loss Support Group – Second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home, 501 Madison, Niagara, Wis. Call Nancy at (715) 251-3172 with questions.

Divorce Care Support Group – Every Monday night at 6:30 p.m., in the gathering room at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 1210 S. Kimberly Ave., Iron Mountain.
