Virginia Torretti

IRON MOUNTAIN – Virginia Torretti, 87, of Iron Mountain, was called home to live with the Lord surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.

Virginia was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Stambaugh, daughter of the late Milton and Lucille (Mitchell) Brooks. After graduating from high school, she went to work for the Liberty Loan Company. Virginia married Henry “Moose” Torretti and moved to Iron Mountain where she raised her two children and enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. Later she worked at the First National Bank of Iron Mountain and Lake Shore Inc.

Virginia loved playing cards and bingo. In her earlier years she liked to golf. Most of all, Virginia loved entertaining her many friends. She was a fantastic cook and baker, everyone knew they were in for a special treat whenever they were invited for dinner. Virginia also loved remembering friends and family with cards for every occasion and will be sadly missed by “Hallmark”.

She is survived by her daughter, Candy (Allen) Weslin; one son, Bruce (Marsha) Torretti; and one brother, Larry (Marie) Deloria.

Virginia is also survived by five grandchildren, Scott (Nikki) Weslin, Julie (Rochelle Dreilling) Weslin, Michael Weslin, Kelli (Ben) Nobert, and Kristi (Derek Luke) Torretti; 10 great-grandchildren, Meghan Serbinski and Macy Weslin, Zachary and Blake Weslin, Jacob, Alli and JoJo Weslin, Madelyn and Andrew Nobert, and Mara Luke; and one great-great-granddaughter, Gracie.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Moose” Torretti in 1969; her parents, Milton and Lucille Brooks; and her beloved step-father, Lawrence Deloria. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Earl Brooks; and her sister, Eileen Stoychoff.

Visitation will be on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Virginia’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
