IRON MOUNTAIN – A five-day jury trial has been set for a Norway man charged in the stabbing of a Dickinson County sheriff’s deputy at the Continental Ski Jumping Tournament at Pine Mountain in February.

Judge Richard Celello set a five day jury trial to begin on Jan. 13, 2014 at 9 a.m. for Andrew Michael Bray, 75.

Bray pleaded not guilty on Monday, and a pre-trial was held to set the jury trial dates.

Bray is accused of stabbing Lt. Derek Dixon of the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department from behind as Dixon was walking near the clubhouse with another deputy while patrolling the ski jumps on Feb. 10.

The knife was knocked out of Bray’s hands and he was subdued and taken into custody.

According to the felony complaint, when interviewed, Bray stated he had been having homicidal thoughts and had been thinking about harming a police officer for the past few days.

Lt. Dixon was treated at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital and has returned to work.

In July, Judge Celello granted an expert to be hired to interview and asses Bray for $1,000.
