Kelly snaps Zehr’s streak in Race for a Cure
NORWAY – A large crowd, beautiful weather and exciting racing all came together for a great cause Friday at Norway Speedway.
Dickinson County Racing Association and BOSS Snowplow presented the Race For A Cure.” Kris Kelly snapped the winning streak of Dalton Zehr in the Coca-Cola late model feature, Brett Bray survived the largest Auto Value super stock show of the season and visiting Todd Mali from Golden Sands Speedway won the DQ-Dog 4 Cylinder feature.
In the 100-lap late model feature, it only took Kris Kelly a handful of laps to put his “77” car out front at the halfway point of the race.
As quickly as Kelly took the lead, the recent unstoppable force of Dalton Zehr jumped into the second position. Zehr sniffed underneath Kelly for the next 25 laps.
After a brief caution, Zehr developed mechanical issues and was forced to pull off ending his run for his sixth feature win.
With 20 laps remaining, the show was not over as Tom Lindquist got into contention by getting around Scott Stanchina for the second position.
However, Kelly powered to the checkered flag with Lindquist second and Stanchina third.
In the 20-car super stock feature, Bray took the lead on lap one and then the battle for second began. Mark Jenshak wound up runner-up with Tanner Kelly third.
Rhianna Carne looked to be on her way to her second feature win the DQ-Dog A feature, but Mali made a last lap pass to for the win.
