Man drowns at Dunbar’s Twelve Foot Falls

MARINETTE, Wis. – A 37-year-old Clintonville, Wis., man died Saturday night in an accidental drowning at Twelve Foot Falls County Park in the town of Dunbar, Wis., said Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.

Witnesses said the victim fell into the water from an outcropping of rocks at about 8:30 p.m. while taking photographs. They were able to pull the victim to shore and attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which was unsuccessful, the sheriff said.

Sheriff’s deputies, Pembine Rescue, Pembine Fire and Beacon Ambulance were all dispatched to the scene. Marinette County Coroner George Smith also responded and ruled the death an accidental drowning, Sauve said.

The name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of family. He was camping by himself at the Pike River park, the sheriff said.

The matter remains under investigation.
