Police search for U.P. armed robbery suspects

CALUMET – Police were searching Friday night for two male suspects who allegedly held two people at gunpoint and robbed them Thursday in Baraga County.

The suspects were driving a white Cadillac Escalade sport utility vehicle and were last seen traveling eastbound on M-28.

According to state police at the Calumet Post, the suspects claimed to be U.S. marshals and demanded a $10,000 ransom from the victims, threatening to shoot them if they did not comply.

The suspects eventually fled, leaving the victims unharmed, but stealing a handgun and the victims’ personal identification, troopers said.

The incident began at about 5 p.m. in the area of M-28 in Watton.

One suspect was described as a white male in his late 20s with darker complexion, approximately six feet tall and weighing 185 pounds. He has shorter brown hair, teal green eyes and a shorter, light-colored goatee-type beard. He was wearing a white shirt with a brown, blue and red horizontal stripe across the chest.

The second suspect was described as a white male in his early 20s with a darker complexion, approximately 5-8, 165 pounds, with brown hair. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and red jogging pants.
