Dorothy Stenfors

IRON MOUNTAIN – Dorothy V. Stenfors, 86, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

She was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Fred and Signe (Lindquist) Hord. Dorothy attended Iron Mountain Schools and was a lifelong resident of the area. She married Albert Stenfors on May 14, 1949, in Iron Mountain.

Dorothy was an active member of the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain and over the years was a choir member, taught Sunday School and served on the Covenant women’s group. She had a strong faith and frequently read her Bible. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Albert; a son, Ken (Pamela) Stenfors of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; three granddaughters, Jennifer (John) Pluta, Tina Stenfors and Krissa Ellis; five great-grandchildren, Jack, Rachel, Alex and Ben Pluta, and Tyler Schuls; a sister, Vera Rouse of Iron Mountain; a special sister-in-law, Mary Hord of Iron Mountain; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Willard, Donald, Harold and Wilbur Hord; and a sister, Gertrude Bergstrom.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow Saturday at 1 p.m. at the church. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Hord, Tyler Schuls, John Pluta, John Arvid Carlson, Harry Self, and Paul Larson.
