Boards plan meetings this week

The Dickinson County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6:30 tonight in the circuit courtroom of the courthouse.

The agenda includes a resolution promoting a southern Upper Peninsula route for Gov. Rick Snyder’s proposed Belle Isle to Ironwood multi-use Michigan trail.

The Breitung Township Board will meet today at 7 p.m. in the board meeting room, located in the township offices in Quinnesec.

The final estimates on the 2013 road paving will be presented with authorization to bid during old business at the meeting.

Under new business, the board will consider a request by the assessor to attend a class for continuing eduction, a resolution to support the Governor’s Michigan trail, and a draft copy of the 2014 budget.

The Florence County School District Board of Education will meet today at 5 p.m. in the Room 215 of the high school.

A discussion of sport statues will be discussed under old business as well as reports by the administration, committees and board president.

New business on the agenda includes the transportation policy, air conditioning for the elementary school, shared services agreement for the school psychologist, NWTC lease agreement for the Hillcrest School, changing the Aug. 5 meeting and approval of the JV girls basketball coach.

A closed session is also planned to discuss a specific student matter, strategy for crime prevention, staffing/contracts/compensation and negotiations.
