IRON MOUNTAIN – Kathleen J. Moreau, 77, of Niagara, Wis. passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013, surrounded by her children and grandchildren at Dickinson County Healthcare System in Iron Mountain.
Kathleen was born on Nov. 3, 1935, in Kingsford, daughter of the late Joseph and Loretta (Charron) Kelly. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1954. Kathleen worked as a secretary in Chicago and then for Lakeshore, Inc. She married Patrick “Choppers” Moreau on April 28, 1962, in Niagara and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2010.
Patrick and Kathleen made their home in Niagara and together raised five children. Kathleen also was a waitress at the Lamplighter and then worked at Maryhill Manor till her retirement. She was a devout catholic and a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara.
Kathleen enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, knitting, crocheting, and Swedish weaving, making many items for her family members. She enjoyed attending Irish Fest in Milwaukee and listening to Irish music. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, William (Donna) Moreau of Niagara, Michael (Lori) Moreau of Iron Mountain, Joan (Mark) Shanks of Kingsford, Patricia (Brian) Sparapani of Niagara and Mark (Angela) Moreau of Niagara; her grandchildren, Shelby, Patrick and Shannon Moreau, Benjamin and Matthew Moreau, Anna, Alek and Allette Shanks, Erin, Emily and Maria Sparapani, and Cole Moreau; brother-in-law, James (Marilyn) Moreau of Niagara; sisters-in-law, Carol (Richard) Clement of Schofield, Wis. Elaine (Douglas) St. Onge of Cudahy, Wis., and Yvonne Nabbefeld of Chelmsford, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Kelly.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Parish prayers will be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. Father Matthew Settle will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Niagara Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
