ARMSTRONG CREEK, Wis. – The 23rd Annual Polish Heritage Days will be celebrated in Armstrong Creek, Wis. this weekend.
Attendees can enjoy dancing to the sounds of The New Generation Polka Band of Pulaski, Wis., from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. today.
The crowning of Miss Armstrong Creek will be at 9 p.m. with a prize drawing to follow.
Polish food and beverages will be served.
Admission to the dance is $3 with ages 10 and under free.
Kara Millan, president of Citizens for Armstrong Creek Inc. and one of the initial founders of Polish Heritage Days, said the highlight of the weekend is on Saturday.
The day starts at 11 a.m. with an authentic Polish Mass at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church.
“Visitors will see ornate Polish costumes and hear beautiful Polish hymns while attending the mass. After the Mass, a parade proceeds from the church to the town park where one can enjoy an afternoon of fun,” said Millan.
Polka music will fill the park all day Saturday, starting with Family Tradition Polka Band of Stevens Point, Wis. from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“If your feet are still willing, dance the night away to The Maroszek Brothers Polka Band of Pulaski from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.,” Millan said.
Throughout the day, the park will hustle with activities for the young and old alike, including games for the kids, horse drawn wagon rides, craft tables, a silent auction, car show and petting zoo.
“It’s a nice family event with activities for all ages, and we seem to have family reunions,” Millan said.
Organizers said the smell of homemade Polish foods will fill the air, making it irresistible to sample the foods which will include pierogi, Polska kielbasa, kraut, Golabki, Kluskiz Kapusta and mouth-watering bakery.
Saturday park admission is $5 with 10 and under free.
