DENVER – Michael Werley, 65, died suddenly of natural causes on June 11, 2013 at his home in Denver.
He was born in Crystal Falls on Aug. 21, 1947, son of the late Bud and Mary Olive Werley. He attended school in Crystal Falls and graduated in 1965.
Mike proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 1965 to 1969, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received several commendations as a Marine for his service.
Mike attended Bryant and Stratton College of Business in Milwaukee with an emphasis in accounting. Upon completion, he accepted a position with the Federal Reserve Bank in Denver. During his 34 years with the bank, Michael frequently received recognition for his reliability and diligence as an employee. He retired in 2009 and enjoyed his life in Denver. He was an avid runner and was known in the neighborhood as “the friendly runner.”
Mike is survived by three siblings, Maureen Mainville of Crystal Falls, Paul (Mary Ann) Werley of Hurricane, Utah, and Bob (Sue) Werley of Menasha, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick.
Graveside services will be held in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery on Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Cheryle Spicer will officiate. The Eastside Veterans Council will accord full military honors.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his memory.
