IRON MOUNTAIN – Betty Jean Lundin Sandlin, 89, lost her battle with pneumonia after a short illness on March 27, 2013.
Betty was born and raised in Iron Mountain. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1942. She married Raymond H. Sandlin in 1948. The family moved to Denver in 1966.
She retired from Joslin’s department store after a 20-year career. She enjoyed travelling, family outings to Bat Lake and spending time with family and friends.
Betty was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, warmth, generosity and friendship.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, George and Bernice Lundin; her husband, Raymond H. Sandlin; her brothers, George Lundin and Russell Lundin; and her sister, Evelyn Lundin.
She is survived by her brother, Richard “Butch” Lundin and his wife Linda; her daughter, Laura Lea Forbes and her husband Thomas; her son, Kenneth H. Sandlin and his wife Roxanne; her daughter, Cynthia Ann Sandlin; her grandchildren, Nicholas J. Sandlin, Stephen M. Sandlin and Kelsey Lea Padilla; her cousin, Betty Berdinner “Dobber;” her brother-in-law, Harold J. Swenson “Swede;” and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held on Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford. The Rev. Jerry Riggert served as celebrant.
Interment was at Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
