Boards plan meetings this week

The Dickinson County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6:30 tonight in the circuit courtroom of the courthouse.

The agenda includes awarding bids related to installation of new 911 dispatch equipment.

The Dickinson County Planning Commission will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Dickinson County Library.

The agenda includes the Yooper Loop trail system and a tour of Norway Springs.

The Breitung Township Schools Board of Education will meet today at 7 the board room of the administration building, 2000 Pyle Drive in Kingsford.

The agenda includes approval of the 2013-14 budget, hiring of personnel, gift to the district, and finance committee report.

The Iron Mountain Schools Board of Education will meet today at 6 p.m. in the library of Iron Mountain High School.

The agenda includes the adoption of the 2013-14 budget, approval of a resolution, $100,000 donation letter, resignation, and MHSAA membership resolution.

The Niagara School District Board of Education will meet today at 5:30 p.m. in the high school learning materials center, 700 Jefferson Ave. in Niagara.

A public appearance will be made by Melissa Jacobs concerning the school calendar for 2013-14.

New business on the agenda includes permission to issue 2013-14 purchase orders; approval to hire William Moreau for the .5 school nurse position; hiring Nancy de Koster for the .4 elementary music position; Nate Burklund for the director of special education position; Jennifer Thomas as a volunteer cheerleading coach; negotiations for the Niagara Education Association for the 2013-14 school yea and third party contract; school calendar for 2013-14; and approval of the June 30 end-of-the-year fund balance designation.

The Breitung Township Board will meet today at 7 p.m. in the board room of the township offices in Quinnesec.

Old business includes conditional rezoning, bid opening for roof repair on the township hall, revised dangerous and dilapidated buildings ordinance, update on parks and recreation committee recommendations, results of speed studies/traffic control orders and 2013 road paving.

Under new business, the board will discuss planning commission recommendations for rezoning and a request to close the township offices and Department of Public Works on July 5.
