OSHKOSH, Wis. – Mary J. Wayne, 89, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, June 21, 2013. at Bethel Home in Oshkosh where she resided since 2010.
Mary was previously of Iron Mountain and lived most of her married life there. She had moved to the Oshkosh area to be closer to her daughter.
Mary was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Muskegon, Mich., daughter of the late Michael and Caroline (Grizzaffi) Portincasa. Mary graduated from Iron Mountain High School, class of 1975.
She married Robert Wayne on Nov. 24, 1956 at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death March 13, 1999.
Mary worked as a proof reader at Wittock Supply for 22 years, retiring in 1993. She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, bingo and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by one son, Michael (Judy) Wayne of Mesquite, Texas; one daughter, Patricia (John) Robertson of Oshkosh, Wis.; one brother, Tony (Inga) Portincasa of Muskegon; and grandchildren, Johnny, Stephanie and Phillip Robertson, and Theodore (petty officer third class, U.S. Navy) and Neil Wayne.
Mary was predeceased by one brother, Benny Portincasa.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Nick, Louis and Dominic, and a sister, Jean Isaacs.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
The memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Rev. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
A memorial will be established in Mary’s memory.
