Mike G. Bubloni
IRON MOUNTAIN – Mike G. Bubloni, 69, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 5, 1943 in Norway, son of the late Mike G. and Myrtle (Leonard) Bubloni Sr. He attended school in Vulcan, graduating from Vulcan High School in 1961. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He married Marion St. Juliana on April 29, 1961 at St. Mary’s Church in Hermansville and together they have spent more than 52 wonderful years.
Mike was a faithful member of the American Martyr’s Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Peninsula Stockcar Association and the Dickinson County Racing Association. He raced stockcars on dirt tracks for 9 years at many different area tracks. He loved going to camp and spending time in the woods. He especially loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
Mike began working as an auto mechanic at the age of 15. In 1959 he worked professionally with the Vulcan Garage and Dickinson County Motors. In 1977 he started his own independent auto repair shop “Mike’s Auto Repair” in Iron Mountain which he ran until his retirement in 1995. His oldest son Michael took over the business upon his retirement.
In his retirement, Mike enjoyed traveling in his R.V., wintering in Arizona, and visiting relatives in Australia. He loved riding his Harley with his sons and grandson. His family meant everything to him and he was especially proud of his sons and the good men they turned out to be. On Nov. 4, 2004, he had a heart transplant and battled heart disease since 1986 while being diagnosed with cancer in 1999.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Marion Bubloni of Iron Mountain; sons, Michael (Michele) Bubloni of Quinnesec, Mark Bubloni (Karen) of Norway, and Rick (Kate) Bubloni of Kingsford; nine grandchildren, Ashten, Nikki, Marcus, Makenzie, Amara, Alison, Haley, Katie and Rhiannon Bubloni; two great-granddaughters, Ahrya Chartier and Athena LaRoche; sisters, Carol Kleikamp (Wayne Paulson) and Joann Depatie (Al VanHeese).
The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Norway Township Cemetery.
The Serenity Prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. These are the words Mike lived by.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his memory.
