MESA, Ariz. – On the evening of May 24, 2013, Nancy Irene Joly peacefully passed away at Copper Village Hospice Center in Mesa at the age of 74.
Nancy was born in Minocqua, Wis., to the late Paul and Anne Soik. She spent her childhood in Green Bay, Wis., where she eventually met her husband Robert (Bob) on a blind date and married him on Jan. 25, 1958.
Moving to Niagara, Wis., in 1968, Nancy worked for many years as the cook at St. Anthony Parish in Niagara. With a strong passion for decorating, she spent many hours preparing the church for the applicable season. For many years she also did the bookkeeping for the Gamble Store and Hayward Interiors as well as serving as the local coordinator for NWTC.
Through the years, Nancy learned many crafts such as sewing, knitting, stained glass, quilting, decorating, interior painting and wallpapering. She was always willing to share her talents with others who enjoyed her various creations. All her children, siblings and close friends have had or still have some part of their homes decorated with Nancy’s expertise. Nancy also enjoyed having dinner parties with lavish themes and many people in attendance.
In her later years, Nancy’s passion became the game of bridge. She truly enjoyed her bridge clubs – traveling and playing in tournaments – which eventually made her a master bridge player. She also enjoyed just setting up tables and having a bridge luncheon at her home. Nancy was heartbroken when she finally had to admit because of the advanced stages of Parkinson’s disease, she would have to give up the beloved game.
Nancy will be missed but not forgotten by her husband, Bob; children, Randy (Sandy) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Tim (Jill) of Seymour, Wis., Debbie (Pat) Weber of Plover Wis., Kathy (Mike) Pozorski of Scofield, Wis.; grandchildren, Lindsay and Zane Joly, Dan and Brandon Joly, Jeremy (Amanda), Brad, and Jason (Sara) Weber, Austin and Robbie Pozorski; and great-grandchildren, Madeline and Jackson Weber.
She is further survived by a brother, Tom (Sharon) Soik of Lakewood, Wis.; sisters, Marcia (Steve) Loch of Lakewood and SiuLan Soik of Milwaukee; brothers-in-law, Ken (Rita), Ron, and Tom Joly.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ann Soik; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Mildred Joly; brother, Dale; sisters, Irene and Donna; and sister-in-law, Carol Joly.
A funeral Mass will be held in Nancy’s honor on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara for those family and friends who wish to attend.
Burial will be in Minocqua.
