FELCH – Edith J. Blomquist, 91, of Felch, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born on May 14, 1922, in Felch, daughter of the late Andrew and Ida Forstrom.
Edith was a lifelong resident of Felch and an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She ran Blomquist Brothers’ Restaurant and also worked at Steinbrecher Potato Farm for many years. She loved to cook, bake, sew and make crafts.
Edith married Rudolph Blomquist on Sept. 30, 1944, in Felch. He preceded her in death in 1976.
She is survived by two sons, Norman Blomquist of Felch and John (Pat) Blomquist Sr. of Iron Mountain; one sister-in-law, Bea Blomquist of lower Michigan; six grandchildren, Angela Blomquist Pouliot, Lee (Raeanne) Blomquist, Kenneth (Mary Lou) Blomquist, John Blomquist Jr., Sara Blomquist (Jared Ferguson) and Jennifer Blomquist; seven great-grandchildren; many special lady friends; and several nieces and nephews, including Mary Ann Steele.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Olaf and Albert Forstrom; and two sisters, Elgina Carlson and Signe Sandstrom.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Rev. Joel Smeby will officiate.
Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Blomquist, John Blomquist Jr., Lee Blomquist and Leon “Butch” Mongrain.
Honorary pallbearer will be the late John Cootware Jr.
