Norway FNB sinks Subway

Junior baseball

NORWAY – Norway First National Bank, powered by a four-run first inning, spilled Subway 6-2 in Little League junior baseball.

Norway’s Dante Pedrotti limited Subway to two hits over six innings. He also fanned five and walked three. Dane VandenHeuvel closed out the game.

Josh Hayes doubled while Cody Carlson and Tyler Laurin each singled twice for Norway (3-1).

Major baseball

IRON MOUNTAIN – Nick Opolka popped a three-run homer and Rotary clipped Elks 6-1 in Little League major baseball at Larry Barkle Eastside Field.

Rotary pitcher Charlie Gerhard tossed a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Elks’ Foster Wonders and Jergen Kleiman combined to permit seven hits and fan 12.

Rotary’s Marcus Johnson added a triple and two singles. Zach Spera, Gio Basanese and Butch Schinderle had singles.

Wonders and Kleiman singled for Elks.

Senior softball

KINGSFORD – Once-beaten Antonio’s, with Mariah Clement clubbing three hits, dumped Florence 18-9 in Little League junior-senior softball.

Clement tripled and doubled to lead Antonio’s (7-1). Abby Meneguzzo, Sydney Wickman and Abby Tomasoski each doubled.

Clement, Molly Wahoviak and Cierra Dober combined to strike out 10.

Clement tossed a two-hitter with seven strikeouts as Antonio’s topped Norway Thirsty Whale 7-4.

Sierra Fortner supplied a double and single. Clement, Sabrina Wickman, Sydney Wickman and Cierra Dober each singled.
