Ruth E. George
IRON MOUNTAIN – Ruth E. George, 84, of Iron Mountain, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Quinnesec on Jan. 9, 1929, the daughter of the late Ernest and Myrtle (Corwin) Cramer.
Ruth enjoyed making crafts, quilting, needle point, woodworking, ceramics and sewing. She was liked by all, and treated everyone as equals. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Ruth married Harry George in Waukegan, Ill., on July 24, 1959. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Ruth is survived by five children, Donald “Butch” Cramer, Diane Moore, Merry (Doug Hess) Gilbert, Wanda (Steve) Anderson and Wayne George, all of Iron Mountain; one stepson, Danny (Diane) George of Wisconsin; one brother, Max (Ethel) Cramer of Kingsford; one sister, Corrine Johnson of Iron Mountain; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many “adopted grandchildren.”
Ruth was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jessie Cramer and Alaina Smeester; two brothers, Robert Cramer and Lawrence Cramer; three sisters, Evelyn Gustafson, Dorothy LaPalm and Irene Chartier.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Reverend Kevin Sullivan will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
