EFFINGHAM, S.C. – Doris J. Anderson, 87, of Effingham, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Carolina’s Hospital System in Florence, S.C.
She was born in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Charles and Lydia (Warlin) Maki.
She was a housewife in Milwaukee, where her husband was a building contractor. Upon retirement they moved to Clearwater, Fla., where they lived for 25 years until 2012 when they moved to be near family in Effingham.
Doris is predeceased by her husband, Melvin O. Anderson who passed away in 2012; and a sister, Alice Davis.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol Jean “Jeannie” (Spencer) Brown of Cincinnati; one son, Stephen C. “Steve” (Betty) Anderson of Effingham; one brother, Allen Maki (Ruth) of Iron Mountain; one sister, Verna (Dan) Donovan of Brookfield, Wis.; one brother-in-law, Forest Davis of Sun City, Ariz.; three grandsons, Mark (Lesa) Anderson, Nathan (Amy) Brown and Matthew (Jacqueline) Brown; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Covenant Church, 125 East H St. in Iron Mountain.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
