UCT, Econo, Rotary all score ‘Major’ victories

IRON MOUNTAIN – UCT improved to 9-0 with a shutout victory over Kiwanis in Iron Mountain North Little League action. Blake Julian worked four innings for the win, allowing four hits, striking out five and walking four.

Joey Dumais, Caleb Evosovich and Bryce Pietrantonio pitched for Kiwanis allowing eight hits while striking out one and walking seven.

CJ Bolo hit a double and a single for UCT, and Tyler Beauchamp added a double. Ian Anderson, Julian, Caleb Johnson, Nick Saari and Ryan (Turtle) Hakamaki added singles in UCT’s 14-run attack. For Kiwanis, Jake Dumais, Ethan Mapps, Michael Talerico and Owen Caudell all singled.

… Cole Galeazzi cracked three hits and knocked in three runs as Econo Foods downed Florence 12-2 in a four-inning Kingsford Little League major baseball game.

Bryce Horwitz added two hits including a triple. Pitcher Ethan Fox struck out six and aided his cause with a double.

In interleague major action, Rotary blanked Aurora. Rotary pitchers Charlie Gerhard, Marcus Johnson and Luke Theisen allowed just one hit with striking out 10 batters. Gio Basanese had a double and two singles. Theisen had a double and a single, and Gerhard hit two doubles in Rotary’s 17-run performance.

Rotary also shut down North Dickinson 11-1. Johnson, Gerhard and Theisen struck out 10 and allowed five hits.

ND pitchers Joe Roell and Sonny Dolen fanned nine and allowed three hits.

Gerahrd, Nick Opolka and Basanese had singles.

Dolen had a double for ND.

…In junior baseball, Norway Spinal Solutions beat Subway 12-2. Connor Ortman was the winning pitcher, giving up nine hits while striking out six and walking two. Nick Murvich had two hits with a double. Dillon Lantagne hit two singles. For Subway, Josh Tucker and Robbie Pomroy each had two singles. CJ Dantos smacked a triple.
