KINGSFORD – Antonette “Dolly” Woempner, 89, of Kingsford, died peacefully at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
She was born Sept. 14, 1923, daughter of the late William and Jennie (Gerone) Talerico of Caspian. She graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1940, and on June 14 of that same year, married Calvin Woempner of Iron River.
Dolly worked at various jobs in the area and for a short while, in Annapolis, Md, but her greatest joy and accomplishment was as a wife, mother and grandmother. Her legacy of love for her family and friends will be remembered by all who knew her and will continue to be a source of comfort for years to come.
She is survived by her four children, Larry (Lil) Woempner, Diane McGinnis, Maureen (Gene) Zanon and Fr. Michael Woempner; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her three brothers, Peter, Joseph and Felix; and her two sisters, Elizabeth Peretto and Katherine Brooks.
Visitation will be Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 4 p.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford.
Fr. Michael Woempner will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial along with concelebrants from the Diocese of Marquette.
Pallbearers will be Jim Condon, Michael Edlund, Jeff Greig, Chad Zanon, Gary Piper, Rick Lambert and Gary Johnson.
Burial will be in the Stambaugh Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary Queen of Peace Memorial Fund in Dolly’s memory.
The family wishes to thank everyone who visited or sent cards, good wishes, food and prayers during Dolly’s illness. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Intensive Care Unit and Surgical Floor of Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Dolly and her family during this difficult time.
