AUSTIN, Texas – Jeannette Lorraine (Dishaw) Stachura, 86, of Sagola, passed away May 22, 2013, in Austin.
She was born in Sagola, daughter of the late Amos and Grace Dishaw. Jeannette graduated from Channing High School before marrying Frank Stachura of Pulaski, Wis. on June 1, 1946. They moved to Chicago for his employment and raised their family there. After Frank’s retirement, they moved back to the U.P. in the early 1980s, residing in Sagola Township.
Jeannette was preceded in death by Frank, her beloved husband of 64 years, who died on May 8, 2010, in Austin. They celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 2006.
Jeannette was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, always ready to welcome her family into her home and life. She was a loyal member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing, fond storyteller of the early logging days growing up in the U.P., an inveterate board game player and a jigsaw and crossword puzzle master.
She is survived by four sons, Michael (Jorie) Stachura of Fayetteville, Ga., Robert (Mary) Stachura of Chicago, Paul (Cheryl) Stachura of Austin, and Daniel Stachura of Ft. Worth, Texas; and one daughter, Carol Hallak of Chicago.
Jeannette leaves 11 loving grandchildren who thought she was the ‘best Grandma’ in the world; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Verna Dishaw of Crystal Falls, Joan (Stachura) Opalewski of Gallup, N.M., Lucille Stachura and Rosemary Stachura of Pulaski, Wis.
Final details for her memorial service are not yet complete. Tentative dates are the weekend of July 27-28, at the Community Center in Sagola.
