Councils, DIISD, Florence School Board plan meetings

Three seats on the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District Board of Education will be filled during the biennial election today at 6 p.m.
The biennial election meeting will be held at the DIISD building, 1074 Pyle Drive in Kingsford in Conference Room A.
There are three candidates for the three six year terms on the board and they include William Borga of N1611 South Circle Drive in Norway; Thomas Kniivila of 129 N. Trybom Drive in Iron River and Robert Witter of 1116 Williamson St. in Iron Mountain.
The agenda for election includes an introduction of local school district electors; presentation of election documents as well as the introduction of three eligible candidates; a review of election procedure; and results of the election.
The Kingsford City Council will meet today at 6:30 p.m. in the council room, located upstairs of the city hall building, 305 S. Carpenter Ave. in Kingsford.
A proposed resolution regarding council member actions will be considered under old business.
New business on the agenda include a resolution regarding delinquent water and sewer bills, variance request for placement of a fence at 125 Breitung Ave. and proposed residential lot sale on Evergreen Court.
A public hearing is also planned at 6:45 p.m. to accept comments regarding the 2013-14 budget.
The Iron Mountain City Council will meet today at 6:30 p.m. in the council room of the city hall building, 501 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain.
Old business includes an update and discussion of changes regarding the proposed sign ordinance, discussion of parking and storage of recreational vehicles, trailers, equipment and other items ordinance.
Under new business, the council will amend the city policy manual regarding funeral flowers, approve a July 4 fireworks display permit for Spielbauer Fireworks Co., approve the Michigan Municipal League dues for 2013-14, and approve a donation for the July 4 fireworks show.
The Norway City Council will meet today at 7 p.m. in the council room of the city hall building, 915 Main St. in Norway.
The Florence County School Board of Education will hold a special meeting today at 5 p.m. in the high school Room 215.
New business includes a teacher registration, student assurance insurance and authorization to spend until the September annual meeting.
A closed session is planned to discuss consideration of staffing/contracts/compensation and personnel.
