KINGSFORD – James “Mac” Mackie, 66, of Kingsford, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1947, in Iron Mountain to the late Arvid and Ruth (Rein) Mackie.
Mac grew up in Kingsford, graduating from Kingsford High School. After graduation, he moved to Milwaukee where he worked as an ironworker and later moved to Colorado and California, working for Russett Electrical Contracting Co.
Mac moved back to Kingsford in 1981, and was employed by Bastian Electric until he retired in 2012. He could always be found helping other people with their projects and enjoyed going to his camp. Mac will be missed by his numerous friends and family.
He is survived by one daughter, Krysta Rittenhouse-Bush of Kingsford; two special children, Tony and Levi Doda of Kingsford; two brothers, Richard (Barbara) Mackie of Bozeman, Mont. and Roger (Sharon) Mackie of Oak Creek, Wis.; one sister, Janice (Bud) Opsahl of Iron Mountain; one granddaughter, Kalei Rittenhouse; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at graveside on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Quinnesec Cemetery.
Burial will take place immediately following the service.
Family will be receiving friends at Mayme’s Bar, 114 East Brown St. in Iron Mountain on Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
