IRON MOUNTAIN – Alice M. Isaacson, 92, of Iron Mountain, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Iron River Care Center.
She was born on March 27, 1921, in Iron River the daughter of the late Charles and Lydia (Sallonen) Jarvi. Alice graduated from Iron River High School in 1940 and from the Gogebic Business College. She worked as a stenographer for the Iron County District Attorney, the Finance Loan Corp. in Ohio, Greyhound Bus Lines in Escanaba, and Dickinson County Social Services, retiring in 1976.
Alice married Chester Isaacson on Aug. 26, 1961, in Iron River and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2003.
She was a member of the First Covenant Church, the Covenant Women, and the State Employee Retiree Association. Alice enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, and chocolate. She also enjoyed corresponding with her cousins in Finland.
Alice is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great nephews; and many cousins in Finland.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Unto (Beatrice) Jarvi and Urho Jarvi; and two sisters, Anni (Alex) Autio and Allie (Russell) Wernholm.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate.
Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens in Iron Mountain.
