Dickinson County Bike Path committee acknowledges Bike Month
IRON MOUNTAIN – The Dickinson County Bike Path Committee is dedicated to creating a county-wide bike path system in the Dickinson County area. May is Bike Month, May 8 was National Bike to School Day, and May 9 was National Bike to Work Day.
Working with municipalities and the Dickinson County Road Commission and personnel, the DCBP is developing and constructing numerous bike paths and trails. They are giving back to the communities from our fundraising events by presenting a $5,000 check to the Dickinson County Road Commission for the construction of those paths and trails. This will assist their efforts for the construction of the Lake Antoine/Quinnesec Road six-foot shoulder and road reconstruction project.
The Tour de Dickinson family bike ride is scheduled to take place on Aug. 17, 2013 and you can register online at www.dcbikepath.org or go to www.active.com. The event is also held in conjunction with the “Italian Fest” held in downtown Iron Mountain later the same day. With the paid registration fee to Tour de Dickinson, all riders and volunteers are given a bracelet pass for free admission to Italian Fest.
