Marquette Blues sink Channing
MARQUETTE – Ryan Hanson and McKinley Larson combined for five hits and four RBI to spark the Marquette Blues to an 8-5 American Legion baseball victory over visiting Channing.
Hanson rapped out three singles, while Larson smacked a double and a triple to power the Blues. Teammate and winning pitcher Colin O’Neal also plated two runs.
O’Neal, who got relief help from Hanson and Trevor Bratonia, went 3 1/3 innings. He allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four.
Cole Grenier took the loss. In a full seven innings, he gave up eight runs on 10 hits and four walks while fanning 10.
Ken Pekarek paced Channing at the plate. He went 2-for-4, scored a run and knocked in two. Teammate Bryce Harper contributed two singles and a run scored.
The Blues scored twice in the first inning and four in the third to lead 6-0.
Channing then scored three in the fourth, but Marquette plated two runs in its half of the inning for an 8-3 advantage.
