James Erickson

DUNBAR, Wis. – James “Jim” Allen Erickson, 72, of Dunbar, passed away in the early afternoon of Tuesday, May 14, 2013, peacefully in his home.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1940, to Nels and Ellen Erickson in Downers Grove, Ill., and moved to Dunbar at a young age where he resided the remainder of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Janna (Kevin) Fischer of Appleton, Wis. and Joanna (Jon) Erickson-Davis of Ellsworth, Wis.; a son, James (Barbara) Erickson of Marshfield, Wis.; one sister, Doris (Russell) Bousley of Dunbar; three brothers, Eddie Erickson, Robert (Joan) Erickson, and Neil Erickson, all of Dunbar; and many grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Ellen Erickson; brother, Raymond Erickson; daughter, Jane Schleip; and an infant son.

Jim was a devoted family man, enjoyed preaching at the Dunbar Covenant Church, playing the harmonica, and was a long-time member of The Gideon’s International and the Full Gospel Businessmen. He was an avid golfer and golf club maker. He was instrumental in reviving youth baseball in the Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine area and dedicated countless hours as a teacher, coach and mentor of the game.

Jim touched the lives of and made everlasting memories for his family members and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Pembine, Wis.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at church on Saturday.

Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing the Jim Erickson Memorial Youth Baseball Trust.
