CRYSTAL FALLS – Max E. Peterson, 60, of Crystal Falls, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 17, 1953, in Crystal Falls, son of the late George and Celia (Mindok) Peterson.
Max was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Forest Park High School in 1971. He graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1975, with a bachelor of science degree in education.
Max worked for most of his life in the lumber industry as a sales person and lumber estimator. He truly loved his job and working with people. Max was also an avid golfer and was a member of the Crystal Falls Men’s League, serving as vice president for many years. He also belonged to Oak Crest Golf Course in Norway and was a former member of Timberstone. Max enjoyed hunting and spending time at Uncle George’s camp.
He is survived by his sister, Winnie Reeve of Kotzebue, Alaska; two brothers, Mike (Barb) Peterson of Crystal Falls and Paul (Kim) Peterson of Bremerton, Wash.; several nieces and nephews, Patrick and Erik Peterson, Shelly (Clay) Nordlum, Meleri Reeve, and Saul, Serah, and Silas Peterson; one uncle, Steve Mindok, and one aunt, Angie Mindok; special family, the Al and Dwaine (Dobie) Anderson families; and his golf buddies, Dewey and Dale Blagec, Rob Bray, Steve Feak, Jon Anderson, Chester Stroka, and Harry Waldo.
Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.
Memorial services will follow Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Raymond Valerio will officiate.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
