IRON RIVER – Fannie I. Skog, 88, of Iron River, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Northstar Health System.
She was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Millard and Sarah (Jensen) Babcock. She attended the Sagola-Channing schools, graduating from Channing High School in 1945. She married William Skog on June 2, 1945, in Metropolitan, and in the 1950s, the couple moved to the Iron River area to make their home. Fannie was a homemaker and in her spare time was an avid walker.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Friendship Club at the Iron River Care Center.
She is survived by two sons, Donald (Julie) Skog of Fond du lac, Wis., and David Skog of Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Betty (Kurt) Barry of Muskego, Wis. and Shirley (Hans) Topp of Corona, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1979; a brother, Herman Babcock; and sisters, Dorothy and Harriet.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church of Iron River with Rev. Bonny Kinnunen to officiate.
Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Iron River.
