Local churches to offer free oil changes May 18

IRON MOUNTAIN – The next area Car Care Clinic, organized and supported by First United Methodist Church, Quinnesec United Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist Church, Norway Grace United Methodist Church, Abundant Life, Maranatha Assembly of God, and other area churches, is scheduled for Saturday, May 18.

The focus of this outreach is to help those in need with basic car maintenance, especially single parents with limited time, money, or resources.

Free oil changes and a general maintenance inspection of an expected 40 plus vehicles will be completed. In addition, this event will expand activities for children and their families as they wait for their car to be serviced.

NAPA Auto Parts of Kingsford has agreed to support the event by discounting the cost of the needed automotive supplies. Participants are asked to pick up the proper oil filter for their vehicle prior to the event. Oil filters are available at no additional cost, for most participant vehicles, at NAPA in Kingsford. Discount wiper blades and air filters are also available for most participant vehicles. The staff at NAPA is ready to help individuals choose the correct parts for their vehicles.

Additional local support provided by MJ Electric, Skate Boulevard, and IMACA (Iron Mountain Area Clergy Association).

A Facebook page is available to connect volunteers and “customers,” and gives them a place to share their stories online. Search for “Iron Mountain Area Christian Ministry Car Care Clinic” or visit www.facebook.com/pages/Iron-Mountain-Area-Christian-Ministry-Car-Care-Clinic/185574561516215.
