Youths start grass fire

KINGSFORD – Two juveniles lighting leaves on fire when the wind gusted caused a grass/brush fire on Horseshoe Lane on Tuesday.

Kingsford Public Safety received a 911 call of a grass/brush fire at 4:28 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers responded to the scene and extinguished the fire, which was located south of Horseshoe Lane and northwest of Oakridge Drive.

The fire burned approximately three to four acres.

Kingsford Public Safety reported no structures or out buildings were involved in the fire.

Investigation into the cause of the fire revealed that two juveniles were lighting leaves on fire when the wind gusted causing the fire to spread.

Officers cleared the scene at 6:02 p.m.

Kingsford Public Safety Department reminds residents that there is a “No Burn Policy” in place within the city limits of Kingsford other than an approved fire pit for viewing and cooking.
