MOSINEE, Wis. – Arvid “Digger” Krokstrom, 69, of Mosinee, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston, Wis.
He was born July 3, 1943, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Arvid Sr. and Jeanette (Alexander) Krokstrom. Arvid graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1961. He joined the United States Navy serving on active duty from 1961 to 1964 as a Medic. He continued to serve as a reservist from 1982 until 1991, when he was called back to active duty in support of Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Arvid attended Northern Michigan University and Mortuary Science School in Milwaukee. Arvid worked for Beste Funeral Home, Seefeld Funeral Home and Kolbe and Kolbe until his retirement.
On July 10, 1965 he married Mary Ann Krall. Arvid enjoyed camping with his family, was an avid golfer, bowler and deer hunter, and he loved making his famous pasties.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, Mosinee; four children, Julie (Bruce) Braunel, Mosinee, Jill (Chris) Laes, Green Bay, Wis., Michael (Amy) Krokstrom, Kaukauna, Wis., and Todd (Linda) Krokstrom, Oshkosh, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, Jonathon, Colleen, Chelsea, Brad, Heidi, Heather, Bailey, Kerstyn, Nathan and Brayden; a great-granddaughter, Alexis; uncle, Abel Alexander, Gwinn; niece, Carrie Johnson; a nephew, Ryan Krokstrom; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alan.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the services at the funeral home.
