Beverlee Miller

IRON MOUNTAIN – Beverlee Rachael Miller, 84, of Iron Mountain, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Beverlee was born on Nov. 13, 1928, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Gustaf and Mabel (Peterson) Bodine. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1947.

Following her graduation, she worked as a secretary at Grede Foundry and Champion Inc. She married Albert Miller Jr. and raised her family.

Beverlee attended Bay de Noc Community College and graduated as a LPN and went on to receive her RN degree. She enjoyed caring for the veterans at the VA Medical Center for 22 years. She retired in 1994.

Beverlee was a member of and attended Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her. They were blessed to have such a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She was always there for them.

Beverlee enjoyed traveling, bird watching, coffee clutching with friends, trying new recipes, and eating a good chocolate chip cookie. On Sundays, it was going to church and watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers. Her homemade salad dressing was fabulous and counted on at all family gatherings.

In addition to her parents, Beverlee was preceded in death by her brothers, Stewart Bodine and Hartley Bodine; and her sister, Seve Bodine.

Beverlee is survived by one sister, Kathryn Calahan of Appleton, Wis.; three sons, James (Louisa) Miller of Iron Mountain, Don Miller of Byron Center, Mich., and Rick (Connie) Miller of Vicksburg, Mich.; and one daughter, Debra Ruohomaki of Hamilton Lakes, Vulcan.

She also leaves her precious grandchildren, Deidra Ruohomaki of Madison, Wis., Derrick Ruohomaki of Spread Eagle, Wis., Dayna (Gabe) Lacosse of Kingsford, Carmen (Keith) Schierbeeck of Byron Center, Grant (Fianc Stephanie) Miller of Byron Center, Cory Miller of Byron Center, Cassandra Miller of Vicksburg, and Stephanie Miller of Vicksburg.

Beverlee was also awaiting the birth of two great-grandchildren in May and November. Bev also leaves her sister-in-law, Shirley Mande of Iron Mountain; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many dear friends.

Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the church with a luncheon to follow in the church hall. Rev. Lee Liverance will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made through the family to Bev’s favorite charities, her church and the Dickinson County Cancer Loan Closet.
