WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. – Elaine “Toots” Nash, 86, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Renaissance in Wisconsin Rapids, with her family by her side.
Elaine was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Emery and Agnes (Knuth) Otto. She moved to Milwaukee with her parents in 1937, and graduated from South Division High School in 1944.
Elaine was employed at F.W. Woolworth in Milwaukee from 1943-1944 and the telephone company in Milwaukee from 1944-1945. In 1945 she moved back to Wisconsin Rapids where she met and married Patrick H. Nash on March 29, 1946. Together they raised eight children. She was a homemaker and also was secretary/hair stylist at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids for many years.
Elaine was a member of the Tri-City Golf Club, Kiwanis Ladies, the Elks Club Women’s, and Fishing Has No Boundaries. She was involved in the Birkenbinder and enjoyed golf, knitting, fishing and playing cards and dice with her family. Elaine and Pat spent 20 wonderful summers at Big Musky Resort on the Chippewa Flowage.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 67 years, Patrick; seven children, Carol (Pete) Mason of Wisconsin Rapids, Rick (Kayo) Nash of Ladysmith, Wis., Tom (Kathy) Nash of Iron Mountain, Barb (Brian) Matthews of Wisconsin Rapids, Kathy (Delbert) Gear of Wisconsin Rapids, Jean (Al) Winters of Wisconsin Rapids, and Joe (Michelle) Nash of Wisconsin Rapids; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Judy Nash.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Agnes Otto, two sons, Mike and John Nash; granddaughter, Julia Grace Cook; and brother, Richard Otto.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Father Sahayanathan Nathan will officiate.
Visitation will be at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be designated to Opportunity Development Center (ODC) or to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church.
