Corrine Sexton

KINGSFORD – Corrine R. Sexton, 66, of Kingsford, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at her home surrounded by her daughters after a brave six-year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1946 in Norway, the daughter of the late Orville and Irene (Erickson) Bryngelson.

Corrine graduated from Florence High School in 1964. She worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell after high school until she had her first child in 1975. She returned to work for Michigan Bell/AT&T in 1985 after staying home and raising her daughters. She also worked at Walmart and most recently for Upper Peninsula Insurance Specialists.

She married Cloyd “Ed” Sexton on June 2, 1973 in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1992.

Corrine was very devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. She especially loved being a grandma. She spent a lot of time with her mother, until her mother’s death in 2012. She enjoyed getting together weekly with her family for coffee. She also enjoyed shopping, traveling and trips to the casino with her friends. Corrine loved animals and spending time with her two cats, Abby and Gracie.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Stohl of Iron Mountain and Amy Sexton of Kingsford; one brother, Robert (Diane) Bryngelson of Aurora, Wis.; two granddaughters, Annika and Amelia Stohl of Iron Mountain; one special stepson and his family, Allen (Jeanne) Sexton and Raelyn and Ed of Kingsford; along with nephews and their families, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.

Services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Reverend Jim Danielson will officiate.

Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
