West Iron County opens with 5-3 victory over Iron Mountain
IRON RIVER – West Iron County, taking three of four singles matches, downed Iron Mountain 5-3 to open the high school boys tennis season Tuesday at Nelson Field.
“For only having one practice outside, this was a pretty good first match for us,” WIC Coach Joe Serbentas said. “There was a lot of inconsistency as was to be expected.
“I feel pretty good about our lineup and expect improvement after more practice time outside.”
Kingsford’s boys tennis match at Menominee Tuesday was rescheduled for Friday. The Flivvers’ next action is Thursday at home versus Gladstone.
