Two hurt in Chassell crash
HOUGHTON – Two people were injured in a two-car head-on collision Saturday night in Chassell, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office said.
A 39-year-old female was eastbound on Chassell Painesdale Road near U.S. 41 when she looked down to change her radio and crossed the centerline, colliding with a vehicle driven by a 51-year-old Chassell man, deputies said.
The Chassell man, who was cited for operating while intoxicated, and his 43-year-old female passenger were taken to Portage Health by Mercy Ambulance for treatment of injuries.
The 39-year-old female was cited for careless driving.
The accident, which occurred at about 9:30 p.m. (Eastern time) remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were Chassell Fire and First Responders, Michigan Tech University Public Safety and the Houghton City Police Department.
