AURORA, Wis. – David Richard Shogren, 65, of Aurora and formerly of Iron Mountain, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.
David was born on July 22, 1947, in Iron Mountain and was the son of the late Earl and Vivian (Ahola) Shogren. He was a resident of this area for most of his life and was a 1965 graduate of Iron Mountain High School.
After graduation David entered the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He worked for Grede Foundry in Kingsford for more than 35 years, retiring in 2008.
After retirement, David moved to Aurora and enjoyed working around his house and yard. He was a devoted father to his two sons and loved being involved with their families and activities.
David is survived by his sons, David (Mandy) Shogren of Iron Mountain, and Daniel (Brooke) Shogren of Appleton, Wis.; brothers, Robert Shogren of Iron Mountain and Dennis Shogren of Minnesota; a sister, Linda (James) Belisle of Iowa; grandchildren, Lindsay, Addyson, Caylee and Lexy Shogren; step-grandchildren, Abigail McCarthy and Sierra DeBernardi; sister-in-law, Bonnie Earl Sexton of Kingsford; neices and nephews. He is also survived by a close family friend, Natalie Zimmerman
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Shogren; and nephews, Steven and Mark Shogren.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor James Belisle will officiate.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
